Sailor Moon

Name:

Tsukino Usagi (Rabbit of the Moon), aka Serena (North American) and Bunny Rivière (French anime).

Notes:

Usagi-chan attends the same school as Ami and Makoto. She's a very poor student and a bit of a crybaby, but a loyal friend. Her family consists of Kenji (father), Ikuko (mother), and Shingo (brother). In the past (Silver Millennium), she was Princess Serenity (the Moon Princess), and she is destined to marry Endymion (Chiba Mamoru/Tuxedo Kamen) and become Neo-Queen Serenity in the future. Chibi-usa is her daughter.

Sailor Mercury

Name:

Mizuno Ami (Beauty? of Water), aka Amy Anderson (N.A.) and Molly (French anime).

Notes:

Ami-chan is the most intelligent of the Senshi. She is more interested in her studies than anything else. She lives with her mother, who is a doctor, and doesn't have many friends outside of the other senshi. She attends school with Usagi and Makoto.

Sailor Mars

Name:

Hino Rei (Soul? of Fire?), aka Raye (N.A.) and Raya Hino (French

anime). Notes:

Rei-chan lives at a temple with her grandfather, and is a priestess. Her mother is dead, and her father is a distant politician. She has two pet crows named Phobos and Deimos. Rei has a fiery temper, and often takes it out on Usagi. She attends the T.A. Girls' school.

Sailor Jupiter

Name:

Kino Makoto (Wisdom? of Trees?), aka Lita (N.A.), Mathilda (French anime), and Mako Kino (French manga).

Notes:

Both of Mako-chan's parents are dead (killed in a plane crash), so she lives alone in an apartment. Her passions are cooking, plants, and housekeeping, and her dream is to be a bride. In contrast, she is one of the strongest of the senshi, and known for being a bully. She's also obsessed with her old senpai. She attends school with Ami and Usagi.

Sailor Venus

Name:

Aino Minako (Child? of Love), aka Mina (N.A.), Marcy (French anime), and Minako Aïno (French manga).

Notes:

Before becoming Sailor Venus, Minako was the crime-fighting Sailor V. She's like Usagi in that she's obsessed with meeting cute guys, and a rather poor student. She takes care of Artemis, the white cat. Sailor Venus is the leader of the Four Guardians (the senshi who protect the princess of the moon: Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus).

Sailor Chibi-Moo

Name:

Chibi-Usagi Tsukino (Little Usagi, etc.), aka Rini (N.A.), Mini-Bunny (French manga).

Notes:

The "pink-haired-rabbit" is the daughter of Usagi and Mamoru. She travels to the past from the future, and ends up staying and becoming a senshi. She fights constantly with Usagi, and sucks up to Mamo-chan.

Sailor Uranus

Name:

Ten'ou Haruka (also spelled Tenoh and Tenou; meaning: Sky? King?), aka Frédéric Tenno (French manga). Tentative English names are Heather and Alex.

Notes:

Haruka-chan is involved in a monogamous, homosexual relationship with Kaiou Michiru-san (Sailor Neptune). Nothing more than hand-holding is ever shown in the anime. She's also a race-car driver, an excellent fighter, a student at the Infiniti Prep School, and a cross-dresser. She loves to tease the other girls, especially Usagi. In Sailorstars, she lives with Michiru, Setsuna, and Hotaru in a big house. In the S season, she has her own apartment. She has the Space Sword, a talisman.

Sailor Neptune

Name:

Kaiou Michiru (also spelled Kaioh; meaning: Sea? King?), aka Mylène Kaio (French manga). Tentative English name is Michelle.

Notes:

Kaiou Michiru is, by far, the most talented of the senshi. She plays the violin and paints beautifully. She's engaged in a homosexual, monogamous, relationship with Haruka. Michiru-san is also among the most sophisticated of the senshi. She attends Infiniti Prep School. She has the Aqua Mirror, a talisman.

Sailor Pluto

Name:

Meiou Setsuna (also spelled Meioh; meaning: Time? King?), aka Séverine Meio (French manga). Tentative English names are Sharon and Susan.

Notes:

Sailor Pluto is the Guardian of Time. In the S season, she relinquishes this role for a time, to help the other senshi fight. Setsuna's dream is to be a seamstress, and her favorite class is physics. She's the oldest of the senshi. Pluto appears to be in love with Neo-King Endymion, but never interferes with his marriage to Serenity. Pluto carries the Garnet Orb, a talisman.

Sailor Saturn

Name:

Tomoe Hotaru (Firefly of Hell?), aka Olivia Tomoe (French manga). Tentative English names are Hannah and Holly.

Notes:

Hotaru is the daughter of Prof. Souichi Tomoe, a scientist. She is a close friend of Chibi-Usa. She attacks with the Silence Glaive, and has the power to heal people. She attended school at the Infiniti Prep School, where her father taught.

The Sailor Starlights

The Starlights appear in the fifth season. They come from another solar system. Their "human" names are Kou Yaten, Kou Taiki, and Kou Seiya. They are (in that order), Sailor Star Healer, Star Maker, and Star Fighter. In human form, they are men who pose as a popular musical group, the Three Lights. As senshi, they are women. Go figure.
